I'm so excited to be part of the blog tour for the book Scarves in the Round: 25 Knitted Infinity Scarves, Neck Warmers, Cowls, and Double-Warm Tube Scarves, written by my darling friend Heather Walpole of Ewe Ewe Yarns!! Heather's first book is full of gorgeous ways to keep your neck warm, all knit on circular needles!! Her book has everything from beginner-friendly patterns to the most complicated of designs, and the finished items range from capelets to cowls to traditional-looking scarves that are knit as mini tubes!

I literally have only one problem with this book - I want to knit FAR TOO MANY of the patterns!! Which is not really a problem at all, now is it! I've got a few of the patterns earmarked for charity, and a few that I want to make just for me!

I love the Del Mar Derby Wrap, clearly. All that ribbing? That's my wheel house! This is the perfect soft scarf to wear wrapped double for cold nights, and would make for a perfect charity project!

I already have plans to cast on the Date Night Infinity Loop, thanks to some bulky yarn I've had lingering in my stash for far too long. There's enough to make a few cowls, so I'll add one to my wardrobe and then donate the rest!!

Traditionally I've struggled with lace projects, mostly due to most lace projects being shawls, with back and forth knitting happening. I'm excited to try the Changing Tides Cowl, however, because I'm hoping the "in the round" aspect of the lace will make it easier for me to wrap my brain around!!

And these are just three of the 25 patterns you'll find in this gorgeous book! I've got a bunch more favorited on Ravelry, and can't wait to watch as projects start to pop up on Ravelry as folks make every one of these gorgeous items!!

And because Heather and her publishers are so amazing, I've got a copy of the book to give to one reader!! To enter, simply comment below with your favorite pattern from the book (you can view them all on Ravelry here) and I'll choose one winner on Sunday night! If you're reading this via e-mail or reader, please click over to the blog and comment to win.

Congrats on the amazing book, Heather!! I can't wait to get knitting on these scarves ... in the round!!

Grab a copy of Scarves in the Round: 25 Knitted Infinity Scarves, Neck Warmers, Cowls, and Double-Warm Tube Scarves for yourself today from Amazon (using the link), or swing by your local yarn shop or bookstore to see if they've got it available yet!!

While I don't normally write a separate post for giveaway winners, I wanted to in this case, in part to say THANK YOU for the amazing comment influx that happened! You guys really do love these Otteburn PQ bags, that's for sure - and why wouldn't you? They're amazing!

The winner of the giveaway was Patt, who said, "The bag reminds me of the pictures you see of shepherdesses knitting as they walk behind the sheep. This would make a great bag to carry at all times to knit while you wait. Walk and knit, too. I would tuck in a sock or a hat."

Patt, can you please e-mail me at shemakeshats@gmail.com so I can get your address and get your bag sent over to you?

And for those who didn't win, Jesabelle has generously offered a discount code for your Otterburn PQ bag purchase! Simply enter SHEMAKESHAT15 at check-out to receive 15% off your next order! The code is good until 6/11/15, so you've got a bit of time to order if you need to save up to buy ALL THE THINGS (like I happen to have done)!

I'm super excited about today's giveaway - one lucky reader will win this Otterburn PQ small knitting bag! I've got three of these bag (two small ones like the photo, and one large bag) and I use them for my current hats in progress.

The small one is the perfect size for one skein of yarn, which is all I need for my hat projects. I toss my current hat in progress into the bag yarn-first, and then I can knit along on my hat while we play trains, head out to grandma's house (when I'm not driving), and just about anywhere else! The bags keep my yarn on-hand while also keeping it out of the way, so I don't have to worry about the yarn being dragged around the house for spider web making (true story).

Thanks to Jesabelle, one lucky reader can win a small striped Otterburn PQ bag of their very own! Simply comment to this post, sharing what project might find its way into your bag first, and I'll pick a winner next Friday!

AND THE WINNER IS ... Katie Probert! I've messaged you on Google Plus, so please respond via e-mail!

Fellow Asymmetrical Press author Josh Wagner recently published Shapes the Sunlight Takes, and I got the chance to read it right as it was hitting the shelves.

Shapes is the story of Lexie, a 15 year old outcast who believes she can see the future. When she has a vision that her best friend's brother Derwin and her secret crush Mirielle are meant to have a love child together, Lexie fights to find the balance between delusion and reality, attempting to make sense of her past, present and supposed future.

I'm constantly amazed at the quality of writing from my fellow Asymmetrical writers, and this book is no different. While I was never a teenage lesbian, I was a teenage girl, and I'm impressed at just how well Josh hops into the mind of one. All the struggle of coming-of-age, pressed together with the supposed visions Lexie fights to control, help make Lexie one of my favorite teenage characters in some time.

I struggled to find the lines between Lexie's delusions and reality, reminding me of when I first read The Bell Jar. I spent half that book feeling almost twinned with the heroine, only to discover she was, in fact, completely crazy. Lexie is so genuine and honest, it's hard to remember that she may, in reality, not be completely sane and thus totally non-credible in her account of the events of the novel.

Lucky us, Asymmetrical Press is giving away a free copy of the book to one commenter today! Simply comment (be sure you log in with your name/e-mail - no one else will see it, but that way I can contact you!) with the book you're reading now, or one you recently finished. I'll pick a winner Sunday night, post back here to this space, and then e-mail the winner!

Back on March 1, I posted a photo of Owen in the shirt his Auntie Sarah made for him, and asked if you all could guess our favorite song. I offered up a free hat for those who could, and two of you guessed right!

We rock out to The Humpty Dance around here!

True Story #1: The first time I knew, knew without a doubt, that I was in love with Zach? We were at Thursday night karaoke, and he was on "stage" rapping The Humpty Dance. My tall, blonde-haired, nerdy boyfriend knew all the words, had people dancing around the bar, and shone like a super star. I remember thinking, "Wow. I just love this man!"

True Story #2: At our wedding, after a few hours of dancing, we had karaoke. And to kick things off right, my new husband sang me The Humpty Dance.

Aw!!!

True Story #3: Right after Zach sang was done, my brother Dan Rick-Rolled our wedding!!!

HTR and MelanieJennifer, you two guessed right! E-mail me at rmcdevine@gmail.com to claim your free hats!

i'm super excited to share today's featured sponsor with you! Apples and 'Nanas is run by my dear friend Whitney - can you believe we've known each other since we were 14?! her shop features amazing hand-made items for babies and kiddos, and i'm proud to have her as one of my sponsors!

I'm a busy mom of two lil ladies who enjoys working with her hands and loves being crafty (is that cheesy? idk).  My shop Apples & 'Nanas Boutique (named after my daughters Addie & Nora) is a collaborative effort with my mom.  I sew super soft homemade baby burp cloths, bibs and blankies.  My mom makes embroidered baby/toddler clothing and bibs.

My mother was always sewing me and my sister dresses and coordinating outfits when we were young, so I've always valued sewing as a skill.  Sometime in my mid-twenties, I decided to buy my first sewing machine and had my mom teach me some basics (I started with handbags).  When all my friends started having babies, I started making burp cloths and bibs for gifts and realized that it was something I really enjoyed doing.

I get most of my inspiration from visits to the fabric store. I absolutely love going and finding new, fun fabrics that I can't wait to make something with.

Whitney would like to offer a bib/burp cloths set (a $25 value) or a baby blankie (a $21 value) today as a giveaway! The winner will be able to pick one of their choice from the amazing selection at Apples and 'Nanas!

To enter, visit the Apples and 'Nanas Boutique and then come back here and comment on your favorite item in the shop. For extra entries, comment with the following:

* Follow Minimalist Knitter on Twitter
* Like Minimalist Knitter on Facebook
* Like Apples and 'Nanas on Facebook

Winner will be chosen next Tuesday!
